Weather Alert: Tropical Storm Fiona – U.S. Embassy Bridgetown, Barbados
Location: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Guadeloupe, Saint Barthelemy, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Martin
Event: The National Hurricane Center advises Tropical Storm Fiona is headed towards the Leeward Islands. Winds are currently 50 mph and may strengthen as the storm proceeds.
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Montserrat, and Saint Kitts and Nevis. The National Hurricane Center advises tropical storm conditions are possible within the warning area within 36 hours.
A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Guadeloupe, Saint Barthelemy, and Saint Martin. The National Hurricane Center advised tropical storm conditions are possible within the watch area, generally with 48 hours.
Those located in the northern Leeward Islands, including the British Virgin Islands, should monitor the progress of this system. Additional watches or warnings will likely be required for portions of these areas later today.
The National Hurricane Center advises of a risk of wind, rainfall, and surf impacts as far west as parts of the British Virgin Islands.
