U.S. Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Visits LAMAT Medical Mission in Saint Lucia

On Tuesday March 14, Deputy Chief of Mission of U.S. Embassy Bridgetown, David Schnier paid a visit to the United States’ Lesser Antilles Medical Assistance Team (LAMAT) which is currently in Saint Lucia.  The LAMAT team is in Saint Lucia as part of the U.S. Southern Command’s (USSOUTHCOM’s) Enduring Promise mission and is composed of 29 U.S. joint force surgical and dental professionals and support personnel who are providing free general and dental surgery at the OKEU Hospital and La Clery Dental Clinic.  Mr. Schnier was given a brief tour of the work being done by the team and was joined by Permanent Secretary of Saint Lucia’s Ministry of Health and Wellness Ms. Jenny Daniel.  Both gave remarks praising cooperation between the medical teams of both countries and thanking the surgeons for their hard work.  Deputy Chief of Mission Schnier noted, “The United States and Saint Lucia have enjoyed a long partnership in the area of health with this LAMAT visit following the visit of the USNS Comfort hospital ship in 2019 and the delivery of thousands of COVID-19 vaccine doses in 2021. This mission is representative of the U.S. people’s continued commitment to its partnership with Saint Lucia.”
