COVID-19
There is at least one confirmed case of COVID-19 reported in Grenada.
State of Emergency
The Grenadian Prime Minister announced a 21-day limited state of emergency to go into effect at 6 p.m. tonight. The government enacted numerous regulations under the state of emergency, including limiting movement for non-essential personnel, limiting or canceling all gatherings and social events, imposing a curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., giving expanded authority to police and emergency responders, and closing most businesses that cannot support telework or virtual work.
Certain businesses deemed necessary, such as banks, grocery stores, and pharmacies, may operate with limited capacity during certain hours. Emergency operations and access to medical care will continue.
The full list of regulations can be found here: https://www.nowgrenada.com/2020/03/21-days-limited-state-of-emergency-commencing-at-6-pm-today/
All U.S. citizens in Grenada should read these regulations, as they apply to everyone with few exceptions. Under these regulations, the police have the authority to arrest, fine, and imprison those who break the regulations.
Flights
Air Canada has a scheduled flight out of Grenada to Toronto on March 26, but the additional flights on March 28 and 31 have been canceled. Air Canada may have seats available on the remaining flight, and passengers can book seats online at aircanada.com. U.S. citizens will need to have a confirmed onward connection to the United States from Toronto and must remain in the airport in Toronto until their flight is ready.
U.S. Embassy Grenada continues to work with U.S. airlines to request additional commercial passenger flights out of Grenada to assist U.S. citizens. If scheduled, we’ll announce on social media platforms and via the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. At this time, there are no confirmed flights to the United States. For questions on the status of specific flights, please contact your airline.
Travelers should be prepared for travel restrictions to be put into effect with little or no advance notice. Many travelers worldwide have reported unexpected flight cancellations and limited flight availability. If your travel has been disrupted, please contact your airline.
