Antiguan attorney, Amaya Athill was granted a Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship to study law at Georgetown University.

Claudia Louis
Claudia Louis, a St. Lucia Ministry of Education systems engineer, was awarded a Fulbright Science and Technology Scholarship in 2007. Louis is earning a PhD in Information Science and Technology from Syracuse University. The Fulbright Science and Technology Scholarship provides funding for three years of doctoral study in science, technology and engineering at top U.S. universities.

Claudius Sanford
Claudius Sanford’s resume boasts his roles as Deputy Leader of the United Worker Party in Dominica and a teacher at Dominica State College- now Mr. Sanford can add Fulbright Faculty Development Scholar to the list! Mr. Sanford, a member of the Eastern Caribbean’s indigenous Kalingo Tribe, will study Economic Policy at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville.

Emefa Sewordor
Emefa Sewordor, an economist at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, was granted a Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship. Ms. Sewordor is pursuing a doctoral degree in Public Administration at Georgia State University. She previously earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Toronto and a Master’s degree in Economics from the University of Georgia State University.

Linda Ann Damiana Alexander
Linda Ann Damiana Alexander was granted a Fulbright Visiting Researcher Scholarship in 2011. She will spend four months at Tulane University in New Orleans working on an academic project entitled “Constructing National Identity through the Arts and Heritage Education.” Ms. Alexander is Head of the Department of Humanities and a Senior French Lecturer at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.

Matt Reilly
American PhD candidate and Fulbright Scholar, Matt Reilly is studying Irish immigrant populations in Barbados. Reilly is conducting an archaeological investigation into these communities to better understand the lives of people of Irish descent on the island. Excavated artifacts and family narratives are helping Reilly debunk the widely accepted perception of Irish immigrants in Barbados. Matt Reilly is part of the Fulbright U.S. student program, which allows American students to spend one academic year studying, working, and living outside of the United States.

Maxine Browne, a dance development officer with the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, was awarded a Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship. She will attend American University to study Arts Administration. Ms Browne previously earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of the West Indies (Mona) and the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts (Joint Program).

Megan Cox
Barbadian research scientist, Megan Cox was awarded a Fulbright NEXUS Scholarship to conduct research at the University of Southern Mississippi. Cox, a Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology scientist, will study pesticide analytical techniques for soil and water samples.

Nyo Serieux
Nyo Serieux, a mathematics teacher at the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, was awarded a Fulbright Faculty Development Scholarship to study Statistics at North Carolina State University.

Roderick Prescod
In 2012, Roderick Prescod was awarded a Fulbright Faculty Development Fellowship to study Instructional Systems at Florida State University. Prescod, a food and beverage instructor in the Hospitality Institute of the Barbados Community College, described the experience as “absolutely incredible” and “beyond what [he] expected.”

Stacy Gumbs
C.F. Bryant Community College teacher Stacy Gumbs received a Fulbright Faculty Development Scholarship in 2011. Ms. Gumbs is pursuing a Master of Organizational Psychology from Columbia University.

Thandiwe Lyle
Thandiwe Lyle was granted a Fulbright foreign student scholarship to study International Business and Economic Law at Georgetown University. Ms. Lyle, a practicing attorney, began her transition back into academic life with an intensive four week Foundations of American Law and Legal Education course. Ms. Lyle has previously studied at the University of the West Indies.
