Emergency Message for U.S. Citizens:  Hurricane Jose

The U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean alerts U.S. citizens to the presence of Hurricane Jose in the Atlantic Ocean.  The government of Antigua has issued a hurricane watch for the islands of Antigua and Barbuda.   A tropical storm watch is in effect for the islands of Anguilla, Montserrat, and St. Kitts and Nevis.

The government of the Netherlands has issued a tropical storm watch for the islands of Saba and St. Eustatius (U.S. citizen issues in these islands are handled by our Consulate General in Curacao.)

We advise U.S. citizens to monitor local and regional emergency management organizations for updates on the situation and for information on emergency preparedness, including the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA): http://www.cdema.org/
