The U.S. Embassy to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean alerts U.S. citizens that the National Hurricane Center is advising that Tropical Storm Laura is headed towards the Eastern Caribbean. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slow strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.
Tropical Storm Warnings are in effect for Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, the British Virgin Islands, St. Barthelemy, St. Kitts and Nevis, and St. Martin.
According to the National Hurricane Center, the center of Laura will move near or over the northern Leeward Islands later today, near or over Puerto Rico Saturday morning, and near the northern coast of Hispaniola late Saturday and early Sunday.
